Girl-Trippin' in Gold Coast

Sometime in August last fall, Mat and I took a much-awaited girls' trip to the Gold Coast. To say that we have possibly planned this trip about a year in advance is about right. I'm definitely missing all the mornings by the beach, the crisp fresh air, the drives along the coast and most of all, the sunset and each other's company. Here are just some snippets of what we got up to during the trip!

Trekked through the woods upon touchdown from the plane, caught Toy Story 4 at a drive-in movie theatre atop our car, went to visit some glow-worms in a cave, popped by a Miami Marketta, grabbed a drink at the Roosevelt Lounge, had SO MANY brunches but my fav is definitely Paddock Bakery, explored some true vintage gems, took a stroll on the beach and basked in the Sunday Market hustle & bustle.

I'm probably going to do another post where I will share with you our itinerary for the trip, (so stay tuned!) I do miss traveling and it's definitely going to be a long while before life can return back to normal where we are allowed to roam freely and travel as and where we would like to. Until then...

Lotsa Cooking during This Quarantine Life

With all the supermarket shelves wiped clean and all the flours going out-of-stock at Phoon Huat, pretty sure everyone is attempting to be a domestic prowess at home right now cooking and baking. It has been really quite lovely scrolling through social and seeing many home-cooked meals (cos maybe I'm slightly biased towards home-cooked meals made with love) amidst all them TikTok videos.

Just thought I would share with you what I have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen as well the past month (before I hit my forehead on a railing in the bathroom and earned myself an ugly scar SIGH). I genuinely like making meals and I find them kinda therapeutic in a way. Also, it is extremely satisfying to see a nice meal being served on the dining table. On another very random note, I have never really fully appreciated how BEAUTIFUL our marble dining table is until lately.

Thai Minced Basil Pork w Stir-fry Kai Lan
Salmon Don
Teriyaki Chicken
Roasted Char-siew and Pork Crackling
Sapporo Soup Curry
Kimchi Spam Fried Rice
Nasi Lemak
Hainanese Chicken Rice

I honestly can't pick a fav but if you ask me, the last two turned out pretty damn legit. So proud of me and my mom whom I have been bonding with in the kitchen. Finally, someone else is making good use of the kitchen at home other than myself!
